Constru.N, our partner and distributor for the Azores and Madeira archipelagos, collaborated with the Department of Civil Engineering and Geology at UMa for the project "Use of Projected Agglomerated Cork Waste in the Rehabilitation of Civil Construction Works in the Autonomous Regions of Portugal", where examples of both public and private projects with proven results were presented. This project was carried out by Petra Ferreira, a Civil Engineering Master’s student, under the coordination of Dr. Deesy Gomes Pinto Correia.
Deesy Gomes Pinto Correia, Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering and Geology at UMa, Faculty of Exact Sciences and Engineering, participated in the 5th International Housing Congress in the Lusophone Space (5CIHEL), held from October 2 to 4, at the headquarters of the Order of Engineers and at the National Laboratory of Civil Engineering. She also participated in the 5th Luso-Brazilian Congress on Sustainable Construction Materials (CLBMCS 2024), held in Lisbon from November 6 to 8, 2024.
The authors highlighted the application of NaciCork (commercial name), an exclusive brand of NacionalRev (100% Portuguese, pioneer in projected cork cladding in Portugal) and exclusively represented in the autonomous regions by Constru.N since 2016. In this presentation, the production process, advantages, and disadvantages of the projected cork material were addressed, with the recent intervention at the Pousada da Juventude do Porto Santo selected as a practical case study.
